Horseback Training and Trail Riding in Ireland
County Wicklow, Ireland
Calliaghstown Riding Centre is only twelve miles from the exciting, beautiful and historic City of Dublin. Yet it is situated in a rural setting that provides the ideal atmosphere for a quiet and scenic riding holiday. The Centre consists of two outdoor arenas, a large indoor arena, three complete cross country courses and many horses. Accommodations are at a four-star hotel.
The standard course consists of six nights and five days of riding (approximately 18 hours). Nine hours of riding will be training in small groups of three to four riders. The other nine hours will be spent hacking in the surrounding countryside on the Wicklow Trail to improve your balance and just have a great time using what you have learned.
Riders wishing a more intense training experience may select the intensive course. This consists of eighteen hours of training in small groups. Emphasis is placed on flat work, dressage, show jumping and cross country jumping. Instruction is provided by Grainne Sugars and her senior instructors. Grainne is coach of Ireland's junior team and is a former member of the Irish Equestrian Team. All instructors are British Horse Society certified and have competed nationally. Guests may also participate in lectures on stable management, equitation or horse care.
This vacation offers a special Youth Riding Camp during the months of July and August. The program includes seven nights Irish family accommodation, all meals, three hours of riding per day, lectures in horse care and knowledge, horses, tack, tax. Transfer to/from Dublin airport is also included for Youth Riding Camp.
Set in over 180 acres of majestic woodland, Citywest Hotel reflects the grace and timeless elegance one associates with the great Irish Houses. International standards of excellence are reflected in all of Citywest's amenities and services.
