Ireland's Galway and Clare Inn-to-Inn Trail
On this horseback riding vacation, you'll follow the ancient Celtic trails from the Slieve Aughty Mountains in Ireland's heartland to the beautiful and historic Galway Bay on the west coast. This six day and seven night trail ride is in one of the most scenic parts of Ireland, County Galway and County Clare. Along the trail you will see the famous Aran Islands and the Burren. The Burren is of special interest to botanists and historians. Once densely populated, this remote area is rich in prehistoric and historic monuments. The miniature plants of this area are some of the most unusual in Europe. It is an mystical and mysterious place, which is great for riding. No cars are allowed in much of this area.
You will also enjoy the Irish pubs, restaurants, traditional entertainment and most of all, the friendly people. There is nothing quite so rewarding to a weary rider as a hot bath, a meal, a pint of stout and a friendly conversation after a long day.
This riding tour also passes ancient ring forts, castles, tombs and beautiful lochs. You will ride through forests, meadows, villages and mountain passes. Riders should be prepared for four to six hours of riding per day on sturdy Irish Hunter type horses and Irish Cobs. These noble animals are considered by many to be the best sport horses in the world.
Each night your luggage will be waiting for you; so you will always have clean clothes. Accommodations are with ensuite bathroom. Riders have a choice of guest house or hotel. Either way, you will be comfortable and experience real Irish hospitality.
