Tunisia’s Sahara and Oasis Trail
DAY 1: Transfer from Tozeur Airport to your four star
hotel. Visit the Oasis of Tozeur by carriage, and enjoy
dinner with entertainment.
DAY 2: Start at the Chebika mountain oasis, and meet
your Barb or Arab-Barb horse. Ride by the massif of the
oriental Atlas, where the English Patient was filmed, and
into the mountains, following the course of the Oued.
Ride to the bottom of a magnificent canyon to the first
cascade of Tameza. Ride through open land and by a
river and into the palm tree forest to reach your five star
hotel, with a panoramic view of the ruins of the old
village of Tamerza.
DAY 3–4: Head to the high canyon of the Djebel
Redaieff, up into the mountains, to reach a point with a
spectacular of the desert. Ride down to the deluxe camp
for the next two nights. Ride to the Sahara Desert with
long canters and a chance to see wild camels. Head to
the Neflayett palm tree forest.
DAY 5–6: Head to the oasis of Ibn Chabat, through the
Sahara landscape. Ride on the salty lake of the Chott el
Garsa, and into the sand dunes of the desert to reach
Aariguet, featured in the filming of Star Wars. The
moonscape continues (alternating sand and salty lake)
as you ride to the city of Nefta. Stay in a 4 star hotel.
DAY 7: Ride to the Chott el Jerid (the second largest salt
lake in the world) and ride on the lake itself. Canter to
the Tozeur palm tree forest.
DAY 8: Breakfast and transfer to the Tozeur Airport.
